A Quick FAQ Post

I get SO many questions on Instagram, my blog, and my email that it’s hard to answer them all! So I figured I’d do a quick FAQ post to answer your questions! If you think of anything else you’d like answered, please leave it in the comments & I’ll try to get back to you as soon as I can!
Is that thing on your head a hijab? (yes I’m starting with this question because it’s annoying)
Yes. This “thing” on my head is considered a hijab. I will not argue with you over the specificities of hijab, but I will tell you that how you wear it is cultural; that you wear it at all is religious. Do not confuse the two and then drag me into your beliefs. How I wear what I wear is between me & God. Contrary to popular belief, you do not need to tell me I’m wrong. You don’t even know what is right. It says nowhere in the Quran that I must take a scarf and wrap it around my head in a circular fashion twice with a scarf that has crystals on it :) You made that style up yourself. Or you adopted it from the CULTURE around you.
Can you tell me how to wrap a turban like you or do you buy the turbans?
YES! I can and will soon post a tutorial on how to tie turbans. No, I don’t buy them ready-made. Although that would be a much easier thing to have!
Where are you from?
I’m half Kuwaiti and half American. And equally proud of both sides. I currently live & study in Kuwait.
Where/how did you do your henna and with what kind of henna?
I did my henna at a salon. If you’re in Kuwait I recommend Living Room Salon in Jabriya. They know how to apply the black tipped henna and used my photos for inspiration on it. I’m not sure what kind of henna was used on me, but I can report that I had no bad reactions to the henna at all. It faded very quickly because I was my hands A LOT throughout the day.
Where can I buy clothing from your clothing line?
Currently, my clothing line is not in stores. I used to sell in many boutiques around Kuwait, but university got very busy and I was unable to keep designing during my senior semester. Soon, however, items will be available in Fortune Cookie Boutique in Olympia Mall. I’m sorry to say that I don’t ship internationally. One day I will inshAllah!
Why do you delete negative comments?
Everyone is entitled to their opinions. However, if you word them rudely I will delete them. If you’re on my Instagram and you think because you are anonymous that it is okay to be rude to me, please remember two things: 1) you’re not anonymous in front of God and 2) I have a block button.

What kind of camera do you use and who takes your photos?

I use a Canon 500D with a 50mm f/1.8 lens or just the kit lens that came with it! Usually it’s the f/1.8 though! As for who takes my photos it’s really a mix of people/things. I taught the helper in our house how to use the camera! She’s become quite good! Otherwise I use a tripod and a remote. Or I rope a friend into taking photos for me. No matter how they’re taken, you can really adjust and crop photos to make them more pleasing on the eye!

The One with Elle Be Are (Part Deux)

If you’re covered you know one of the HARDEST things to find are shirts that you can wear on their own without having to put another long sleeve shirt underneath them. The less layers the better! It just gets too hot & bulky! But the sad truth is most long sleeve shirts are see-through or short or or or or…there’s always a problem with them!

So you can imagine how delighted I was to receive this beauty from Elle Be Are. It’s light-weight, long sleeved, not see-through! Basically it’s a covered-girls best friend! AND it has pretty lipstick on it! SEQUINS! I’m a lover of sequins.
